This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to grow their communications career at a boutique and international digital economy consultancy working with high-profile clients. We're looking for a proactive, hands-on, and driven marketer to raise our profile by promoting Caribou Digital's content for both the central brand and key programs, manage and optimize our digital channels, support coordination of our events, and put processes and best practices in place to support the wider team to become adept brand ambassadors.
This role comes at an exciting time following a brand refresh, a new website, and the launch of our think tank arm, the Caribou Digital Institute. This role will work with the Head of Communications & Events and a diverse range of clients and marketing agencies.
Location : While we're a fully remote team, this role requires close collaboration with the communications team based on GMT +/- 3 hours. Therefore, we have a strong preference for candidates within this timezone.
The successful candidate will:
Drive engagement with Caribou Digital's (CD) digital channels and content to expand reach with target audience segments
- Deliver a regular cadence of content through CD's key digital channels aligned to the communications strategy:
- LinkedIn - Develop and implement a content strategy that ensures the publication of diverse and engaging posts 3-4 times per week, and oversee community management by employing social listening tools to foster engagement with our audience
- Newsletter - Produce compelling content for CD's newsletter, and lead the design, build, test, and proofing of the content in Mailchimp
- Website - Collaborate with the Publications Manager to update and upload content to the website and the publications library (about 50 entries a year) with relevant metadata and backend processes, customize web pages as needed and work with the Head of HR to ensure the People Page is regularly updated with new joiners
- Collaborate with the Head of Communications & Events to design and execute multi-channel campaigns around the launch of key content initiatives, including the management of paid campaigns
- Develop promotional and informational materials, including factsheets, infographics, presentations, and other digital publications, to enhance brand visibility
- Develop comprehensive promotion packs for partners and stakeholders to maximize the impact of our key content
- Contribute to the creation of press releases, news articles, blogs, interactive web content, and native advertising (such as advertorials/sponsored content)
- Create a set of social media and newsletter graphics and templates to align with CD's refreshed brand style, and work with design vendors to create a set of branded templates for team members to use, including PowerPoint decks, documents, and more
Lead end-to-end coordination and promotion of external events and streamline our internal events processes to support the delivery of valuable event experiences
- Promote all external events as required
- Collate and manage a central database of both internal and external events, including wishlist conferences we should be attending or speaking at
- Collate event invitees within a central CRM and design and disseminate event invites as required
- Lead the hosting of online events - setting up and branding webinars on Zoom, managing attendees, coordinating break out rooms, recordings, and more
- Lead the coordination of in-person events - refining agendas, sourcing and managing speakers, coordinating venues, and more
- Source, contract, and brief on-site marketing vendors such as photographers and videographers for the production of post-event promotional materials
- Manage the production and logistics of on-site brand materials such as banners, printed reports, and other merchandise
- Produce and share timely event debriefs on social media and newsletter
- Produce event debrief presentations to highlight key takeaways and learnings from owned events to the wider team and relevant clients
Support Caribou Digital program communications
- Develop and execute tailored marketing strategies, campaigns, and editorial calendars for CD client programs, ensuring alignment with each program's goals and objectives while promoting the impact and thought leadership of our clients
- Support program communication activities by coordinating with program owners and clients to ensure timely updates, consistent messaging and branding, and effective dissemination of information across various channels
- Source and contract graphic designers, photographers, videographers, copywriters, and other external vendors as needed to support program communication activities
- Produce and manage a variety of content, including blog posts, social media updates, newsletters, press releases, videos, podcasts, and other digital publications, to effectively promote client programs and engage their target audiences
- Plan and execute events, such as workshops, webinars, and live learning events, including logistics, content development, and on-site support to ensure successful delivery and client satisfaction
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets and journalists to expand the reach of programs
- Secure client buy-in on all communication strategies, approaches, and ideas, and provide suggestions to improve marketing efforts
Reporting and processes
- Collate and analyze performance data of digital channels, content, and events
- Develop a robust comms library of processes and guidelines on Notion
Team management
- Report directly to the Head of Communications & Events
About you
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- 5+ years experience in communications roles
- International experience desired
- Experience or expertise in one or more of Caribou's subject matter areas is critical, such as international development, digital economy, tech for development, etc
- Experience in digital marketing tactics
- Professional manner that can build trust with stakeholders across multiple markets
- Drive to roll up sleeves and do hands-on tasks alongside excitement to grow strategic marketing capabilities
- Proactive to a fault and an “everything now” approach to both tactics and strategy - if you see incorrect LinkedIn post, fix it today and establish the processes to ensure it doesn't happen again
- Awareness of our competitive landscape and prospective client base
- Experience using CMS, CRMs, analytics tools, social media scheduling tools, and graphic design programs desirable (CD currently uses WordPress, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Sprout Social, and Canva design)
- This role is fully remote, with 2-3 in-person meet-ups per year, so the candidate must be self-motivated and able to effectively build team relationships remotely
- The candidate can be based in any location ideally on timezones +/- 3 hours of GMT (but up to a maximum of +/- 4 hours of GMT) as this requires very close collaboration with team members in these time zones
