Overview

Barrick Gold Corporation is seeking to hire an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to lead environmental and safety initiatives at Homestake Mining Company in Lead, South Dakota. This role implements and manages comprehensive environmental and safety programs to meet performance requirements and achieve zero incidents.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Management

• Identify, assess, prioritize, and manage safety and environmental risks
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve an integrated management system

Program Administration

• Oversee all Environmental and Safety programs and plans
• Ensure compliance with Barrick policies and local, state, and federal regulations
• Implement Journey to Zero programs and fatal risk management initiatives

Training and Development

• Determine EHS training needs and manage program implementation
• Develop safe operating procedures and monitor compliance
• Conduct evaluations, audits, and inspections, providing coaching as needed

Environmental Management

• Oversee environmental permitting, compliance, and monitoring programs
• Manage environmental projects and technical studies
• Coordinate mine closure and reclamation activities

Stakeholder Engagement

• Represent Homestake at regulatory hearings, legal actions, and community meetings
• Liaise with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies

Reporting and Documentation

• Ensure timely submission of EHS reports to regulatory agencies
• Maintain accurate records and analyze data from all tests and observations

Leadership and Team Management

• Develop succession plans and provide coaching to environmental personnel
• Conduct annual employee evaluations
• Manage safety and environmental site budgets

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Health, and Environmental Management or related field
• Minimum seven years of relevant work experience
• Experience in mining operations (surface) is preferred

Skills and Abilities

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities
• Critical thinking and project management capabilities
• Proficiency in computer systems (Barrick systems experience preferred)
• Understanding of applicable safety and environmental regulations

Required Certifications

• OSHA 501 trainer card (or OSHA 30-hour card minimum)
• 49 CFR DOT trained
• 40 CFR RCRA trained
• OSHA 40-hour certification
• Advanced CPR, First Aid, and AED certified
