Job Description

The Lutheran Home has a temporary opening for a Health Information Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for compiling, processing, and maintaining medical records within our healthcare community. Join us in our mission to provide dignified care at our top-rated residence for individuals 65+ in the area. 

• Process patient admissions and transcribe medical reports.
• Transmit correspondence or medical records by mail, e-mail or fax.
• Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff.
• Maintain medical records, technical library or correspondence files.
• Compile and record medical charts.
• Protect the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
• Review records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulations.
• Retrieve resident medical records for physicians, technicians or other medical personnel.

• Administration and Organizational skills
• Previous medical records experience preferred
• Medication and medical terminology experience preferred
