MRI Technologist - MRI Job Description

The MRI Technologist is responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce diagnostic images of the human body. The Technologist will work under the supervision of a radiologist to prepare patients for MRI exams, operate the MRI scanner, and monitor patients during the exam. The Technologist will also be responsible for maintaining the MRI equipment and ensuring that it is operating properly.

Responsibilities:

• Operate MRI equipment to produce diagnostic images of the human body
• Prepare patients for MRI exams by explaining the procedure and positioning them on the MRI table
• Operate the MRI scanner and monitor patients during the exam
• Maintain the MRI equipment and ensure that it is operating properly
• Document patient information and images in the medical record
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care

Qualifications:

• National Registered Technologist - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRT) or National Certified MRI Technologist - American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association (AHA)
• 1-5 years of experience working as an MRI Technologist
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work under pressure

Preferred Qualifications:

Coursework/Training: Graduate of a program in radiologic technology approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education & Accreditation of the American Medical Association.
California Radiologic Technologist License (CRT).
5 years Experience as the primary technologist in a high volume MRI facility.
