PSC is looking for a SENIOR CONSULTANT to join our team. In this role, you will engage in various policy projects related to state and regional economic policy and strategy. Project work will span our client base throughout the state of Michigan, and you will work with clients to provide research, strategic counsel, and thought leadership. Senior consultants manage projects, facilitate meetings, and produce reports and other client deliverables.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Delivers the PSC client care commitment and manages client satisfaction through leading project teams to timely, quality delivery on projects of small to medium complexity; uses strategic communication skills to manage conflict, negotiate with clients, and articulate project expectations within the project team
- Conducts, translates, and analyzes public policy research, primarily in areas related to local, state, and regional policy topics at the intersection of economic development and community resilience, such as affordable and equitable housing, transportation, entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems, and talent/workforce development strategies
- Manages multiple projects and assigned tasks on projects concurrently—including leading solution development, directing the scope of work, coaching and collaborating with team members to complete project tasks, and managing client expectations—resulting in high-quality project deliverables completed on time and on budget
- Coaches team members on assigned tasks on projects to ensure timely, quality completion
- Develops research reports, strategy documents, and other client deliverables
- Utilizes strategic thinking to connect clients with relevant information and offer potential solutions
- Plans and facilitates meetings, focus groups, strategic planning sessions, and other events
- Navigates and solves client concerns on assigned projects, escalating issues when needed
- Develops increasing subject matter and skill expertise on progressively more complex projects
- Maintains excellent client relationships, identifying project opportunities with returning clients, meeting with clients on these opportunities, leading solution development and proposal writing/development

Organization and Time Management Curiosity QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree and six years of relevant work experience; Master’s degree preferred
- Strong policy research and concise writing skills and the ability to accurately interpret data
- Experience working on public policy topics with diverse stakeholders
- Experience leading projects and working with clients
- Experience mentoring others or supervising project team members
- Demonstrated experience performing comparable duties
WORK ENVIRONMENT PSC employees work in the office as needed for employee onboarding, client meetings, and team and relationship building. Work is primarily performed indoors, with extended periods at a computer or on the telephone. The nature of the work involves multi-tasking, completing repetitive tasks, and having contact with the public and clients.
COMPENSATION - Salary commensurate with education and experience; The full salary range is $89,240–$133,860
