Hatch, a full-service engineering consultancy, is seeking current students for a Smart Ports internship with the desire for a challenging career in the engineering consulting field . This is an excellent opportunity to acquire work experience in the transportation and logistics field while also gaining experience in software development and testing. Expect a broad range of possible opportunities, including instrumentation and controls, telemetry and data acquisition, and test automation, among many other topics.

Responsibilities :

  • Assist Software Architects, Engineers, and Testers in designing and executing software test cases. Scripting of automated test cases (e.g. for regression testing).  Development of functionality for Hatch testing tools (e.g. automated testing framework, simulators).  
  • Based on client input, contribute to technical specifications, presentations, and written reports for studies.
  • Assisting with developing project scopes, engineering estimates, construction cost estimates and developing methodologies.
  • Use the application of engineering principles to provide efficient, effective, economical and timely solutions to design problems in a multidiscipline project environment.
  • Application of innovative engineering solutions.
  • Engineering design of repairs to structures or components.
  • Working independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.


Qualifications :

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Systems Engineering
  • Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Experience in mechatronics, robotics, and software programming an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to achieving engineering excellence.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to various practical problems.
  • A desire to learn and continually develop.
  • Strong personal commitment to safety.
  • Previous Co-op or Internship experience an asset.
