Medical Nurse Reviewers to support our Dept. of State contract. The position is remote, but the chosen candidate must be willing to work ET hours.
The Medical Nurse Reviewer position is located in the SCA/CARE Office and is responsible for the initial review of medical exams of Afghan nationals who are pending emigration to the United States. Because the migration pathway involves a stay in a third country for visa processing (Offshore Processing Platform or OPP), CARE reviews individual medical records to ensure that the OPP is able to manage the traveler's medical conditions and/or alert the OPP if additional resources are needed.
The Lead Medical Nurse Reviewer reports to the CARE Lead Medical Nurse Reviewer.
Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Utilize a combination of information available in one or more Excel spreadsheets and documents generated after a Panel Medical Exam
- Review any findings cited on exam, develop an abbreviated medical problem list
- Make entries accordingly to a spreadsheet that is reviewed regularly with the OPP
- Review their findings with CARE senior medical staff for further disposition
Basic Qualifications: - Active Secret clearance
- Have demonstrated experience with managing medical records including, but not limited to, data entry and record reviews, identifying important exam, laboratory, and imaging entries, and formulating a problem list
- Hold licensure as a Registered Nurse or EMT-Paramedic within a state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States OR hold a degree or certificate or registration in a field that focuses on medical record reviews and medical record management
- 5 years of full-time employment utilizing the skills and knowledge referenced above
- Have a breadth of professional experience, critical thinking, knowledge, and skill in applying a wide range of concepts, principles, and methodology in their professional field.
- Have experience with basic Microsoft or comparable programs to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
- Ability to analyze, synthesize and organize information and data
- Ability to review, develop, and coordinate policy and procedures with respect to assigned program areas.
- Have ability to communicate orally sufficient to meet and deal with managers and employees at all levels in situations of a highly sensitive nature.
